A Grand Entrance for Tower Mill

Excitement is building at Tower Mill for our next big development – the English Fine Cottons new reception and showroom area.

For several months, we’ve been working in the background on our vision for a grand entrance to our iconic mill. And now, we can finally reveal our plans.

We’ve already started on much of the restoration work on the Mill’s original reception and office area. The electrics and utilities have been brought up-to-date and we’ve carried-out repair work to the façade – brickwork, sills and ledges have been restored and windows fitted. Installing new windows is part of our ongoing project to replace all 220 windows in the building.

Part of the reception area will be a space where we’ll showcase a selection of our customers’ products that have a truly British provenance.  Bespoke handmade display units and cabinets, crafted locally, will be stocked with a wide range of clothing and home textile items made from English Fine Cottons’ yarns.

Later, the aim is to add samples of our own creations – a range of products made to our specifications by our partners. These products will be truly made in Britain from start to finish, a result of close co-operation with like-minded UK clothing manufacturers, knitters, weavers, dyers and finishers. Alongside shirt lengths and bolts of our classic shirting fabrics, we’ll stock a range of cotton garments and homeware linens that are currently in the early development stages.

Designed in a traditional haberdashery style with a modern twist – perfectly reflecting our historic mill that houses state-of-the-art machinery, the showroom will act as shop window for the products, which will be available to buy from a new e-commerce website that we hope to launch in time for Christmas.

English Fine Cottons’ general manager. Andy Ogden. said: “This is something we’ve been talking about since the very early days – when the plans to open a cotton mill were formed.

“Now, a year into production, there’s a whole catalogue of English Fine Cottons-based products about to come to market, and our plans for our own ranges are coming to fruition.

“We’re really excited about this next step. The showroom will be the perfect landing area for our many visitors to the mill and it will also provide a fantastic back-drop to our e-commerce site.”
