The Bale Plucker
The bale plucker stands covered and nearly completely built on the ground floor of Tower Mill, home to English Fine Cottons, the UK’s only cotton spinner and producer of cotton yarns. The bale plucker is the first stage of the cotton production process, it opens the bales of cotton, which are lined up alongside it and then takes a small amount from the top of each bale. The fibre is then passed through the transportation system to other machines for cleaning, mixing, blending and carding.
